Ross Young, CEO of screen supply chain consulting firm DSCC , published a recent article revealing the screen adjustments for Apple’s iPhone 17 series models.
It is reported that the screen of the standard version of the iPhone 17 will be increased from 6.12 inches to 6.27 inches, which is the same size as the current iPhone 16 Pro.
Highlights the details are as follows (iphone 17 series) :
- iPhone 17: 6.27-inch display, larger than the iPhone 16’s 6.12 inches.
- iPhone 17 Air: 6.55 inches.
- iPhone 17 Pro: 6.27-inch display, same as iPhone 16 Pro.
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 6.86-inch display, same as the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
It is worth noting that the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro series has also increased, but the body has hardly changed. The main difference is that the black borders of the screen have been further narrowed, and the screen-to-body ratio has been increased, resulting in a larger display area.
It is expected that the standard version of iPhone 17 will also have narrower bezels and a higher screen-to-body ratio. Another most exciting point is that multiple sources have revealed that all four models of the iPhone 17 series will support 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate.
Apple introduced this technology as early as 2021’s iPhone 13 Pro series, but it has always been exclusive to the Pro series. Even though high refresh rates are now popular among Android phones costing 100 yuan, the iPhone 16/Plus still has a low refresh rate of 60Hz.
The iPhone 17 will make new history. This is the first time in Apple’s history that a high refresh rate is supported on a standard version model.
In fact, the overall experience of the standard version of the iPhone in recent years is not weak, but the low refresh rate has been criticized by everyone. The addition of a high refresh rate screen will completely make up for this super shortcoming.
